Third Grade Musicians have been working hard to review note values and proper singing and mallet instrument playing technique. We have recently learned the traditional song, "Down to the Baker's Shop" in our music studies. Here's what we've been up to:
- Musicians identified locomotor and non-locomotor movements.
- Musicians demonstrated body and voice control while singing a song with body movements.
- Musicians demonstrated proper singing technique: breathe deep, raised soft palette, open throat and mouth, strong posture, and diction.
- Musicians demonstrated proper mallet technique.
- Musicians identified, performed and notated half, quarter, and eighth notes and quarter rests.
- Musicians identified the musical notes A, G, and F on the staff and on the xylophone.
- Musicians perform cooperatively together while singing and on instruments.
- Musicians identify the difference between rhythm and steady beat.
- Musicians understand that all music has form and identified the form of our song as ABA.
- Musicians make connections between music and the other arts as well as music and literacy and social studies.
Congratulations to all of our 3rd Grade Musicians on a wonderful start to the new year. I am so proud of you! I hope you enjoy listening to Mrs. Rogers' students perform "Down to the Baker's Shop."
